Much has been said about the legality or illegality of leasing a firearm. The CFC itself can't seem to make up it's mind. In a letter to CILA dated June 29, 1999, CFC Lawyer Kathleen Roussel states that leasing IS legal. She was contradicted almost immediately by Jean Valin, who is the propaganda...er I mean Public Relations Director for the CFC. Since they cannot make up their minds, and common law says that anything NOT prohibited in legislation IS legal, it's probably legal. Bear in mind this has NOT been tested in a court of law as yet, so it's anybody's guess what a judge would have to say on the matter.
